Second Chance Farm's
Senior Companions
Our Vision
Loneliness and social isolation in older adults affect a significant number of people, and it can put them at risk for dementia and other serious medical conditions. Second Chance Farm has decided to help fill that loneliness void by starting a new program called Senior Companions. We pull senior dogs who are in shelters and are less likely to be adopted and match them with senior people! We will provide dog food and vet care to those who are struggling financially. Our volunteers will check in on the seniors weekly to see if they are in need of any assistance. Even those in hospice care can benefit from this program. Bedridden folks may also enjoy a dog who will lay by their side and get endless petting and comfort. Sandi’s mom Cleo had a favorite little dog, Kate, and she is with a sweet hospice patient now. She is the first dog of this program and Kate has brought such happiness and fulfillment to her. Our mission is to spread this joy throughout our elderly community. It’s a win-win for senior dogs and senior people!
